If you're struggling to find the time to create or come up with content, read on for this lifesaving hack that I use daily:
As a busy mom, it's super hard to find time for basically anything that involves work. The time I DO get to work, is always filled with other things that need my full attention, like packing orders or seeing clients in my studio. But what about all that behind the scenes work? Where does that fit in and how do I do it?
For starters, my cell phone is my life saver. This is super easy and something that you don't have to spend any extra money on because, do you even exist in 2023 if you don't have a cell phone? What's even better, is now you write off your phone bill as part of your business expenses!
My phone is always with me, so it's the easiest way for me to sneak in small business tasks. My most productive tip: keep a note app on your phone (I have an iPhone and use the Notes app, but you can also use Evernote or other note apps, it doesn't have to be fancy or paid for). Whenever an idea comes to my mind, like for a blog, a social post, newsletter, a to-do list, or business idea, I jot it down. As you can imagine, I have a TON of notes on the go all the time. When you have time later or are planning your content, you can go back and revise or copy this content and add it to whatever you need to.
This saves me so much time every week because a lot of times when I HAVE to come up with content, I get writers block. However, when I have a million things on the go, naturally all the ideas pop into my head. It also helps when I'm in a pinch and have to post something very last minute because I didn't plan ahead (which happens more often than not). I always have something to pull from.
I literally am adding to these notes constantly (when I'm not doing actual work): when I'm watching tv, waiting for an appointment, laying in bed at night, nursing my baby, on the toilet (for real though). It's not often that I get time to sit for hours and write and be creative; something ALWAYS comes up when I do plan it.
So this has been an absolute lifesaver for me and my sanity. I actually enjoy writing, so when ideas pop into my head I am excited to jot them down and then use them later! Even this blog post came about this way!
Next time you catch yourself playing around on your phone doing something non-productive (be honest with yourself), try opening up that note app and creating content. You can even just start with content ideas that you will add to later. If you are new to the content creation world, this will take a bit of getting used to, but you will catch on. Try it out for yourself and let me know if it helps!
